Story of Film
This is a film about the story of film. It is done in a narrative style like a documentary. So within it there are segments from filmer's talking about the art of film:

As time passed forward to the future of films they would eventually become more personal. The first filmer that was followed had created a variety of works that touched the emotions and were driven off of his past experiences. Another filmer who had a very different style, filmed scenes that were very close to ordinary life. This filmer used very normal costumes, with average looking people, making average looking expressions, with very ordinary composition. Also, in the film world, people were greatly influenced by older, well-known filmers. They often have scenes filmed in that persons style or use similar angles in adjascent clips. Some people hide things in certain scenes or some use unique styles, for example, having the camera in a still spot but having a constanly moving subject. Some films are inspired by the film maker's past. One filmer ran away to the circus as a child and was so influenced by its livelihood and color that he used this in his films. Also film style can change throughout a film to give it a unique blend of well loved filmers' styles or all new ones. Also a filmer can confuse his audience and cause uncertainty by tangling reality with either fake or real memories of the character. This style can be creepy and keep the audience guessing. This style works well with the art of only letting the audience know what the character knows. Another guideline in film is trying to create wide shots that allow the eyes to wander all around the scene. But certain filmers enjoy segmented colse up shots that control where your eyes go and don't allow much certainty of what is around the character. It makes the film very confined and personal to each individual being filmed. Not every film has to follow the normal style used that is easy for an audience to understand. Films don't need amazing costumes or big gestures to be amazing, for example. Characters can be plain and very casual but can still be part of a masterpiece. But it seems that throughout the life of film, thinking inside this box of guidelines acctually gives more options and dramatic music, flashy clothing, nice color, and interesting background seem to keep people's attention just a bit better.
